So, I made my own artwork using Adobe that imitates this concept. I used red and turquoise, since, as you might've noticed, those colors are some of my favorites.
I typed the numbers using various fonts, and then added the gray swirly - a graphic I had downloaded awhile ago from online.
I also really liked this sign at Ikea, especially the varied styles of type within the same font.
I flip-flopped the black on white color scheme and used a Scripture verse with different words emphasized using different thicknesses of the same font.
I realize now that I neglected to put punctuation in the verse - oops! But I still liked that I was able to apply a sign at Ikea and turn it into a little piece of art that will encourage my soul.
The third thing I imitated from Ikea was this alphabet poster.
I thought the poster was pretty neat, so I tried something like it with different colors and also used different thicknesses of the same font (I used Hypatia Sans Pro for both this project and the black and white one).
These three little projects were fun to do, and I'm glad I actually took the time to imitate some of the designs I saw at Ikea. I'd love to know what you think of my emulations! Do you have any thoughts for me - any comments or constructive criticism?

I LOVE the numbers one that you did! I would totally frame that and put it on my wall :)
I like how you used their ideas, but still made the designs "your own!" Changing the thickness of the vowels in that last design was a creative idea. And I must say, I feel very "comfortable" when I look at these... Great designing :)
That is so cool Carrie! What a great idea to be able to increase your own skills by using ideas from those signs. I really like what you did, especially the number one. =)
