Ten Favorite Free Fonts

I think pretty much all graphic designers love fonts.  I sure do.  Even before I got into graphic design, I always loved playing around with different fonts on my school narratives and other things I would do in the computer.  Eventually, I got to the point where I could recognize certain fonts off of signs and things.

So I'm a font nerd.

And I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite fonts with you!  There are so many fonts out on the web that you can download for free, so I'll just give you ten of those that I really like.  Just a caution, though, for those of you who want to peruse the free font world yourselves: a large portion of free fonts are only for personal use, so please check on the license if you're interested in using them for commercial purposes, like I do for my graphic design business.

Another Typewriter

This is one of my most frequently used typewriter fonts.  It's good for so many things, really flexible, and most of all - free!  You can download it from Dafont by clicking right here.

Bebas Neue

I really like this font because of how chunky and bold it is.  It's a great font, especially when you want to make something look modern and bold.  You can get it from Font Squirrel if you click here.

Caviar Dreams

I still don't understand the name of this font (who dreams of caviar?), but I really like it.  It's kind of like a simple Century Gothic type font, but with a little retro twist.  I also really like how light it is - I tend to go for those kinds of light, sans serif fonts a lot.  You can get it here.

Chunk Five

This is another great chunky font, and one I really like to use.  I like how clean it is - very versatile.  You can grab it right here.

Code

Light

Bold

Code comes in two varieties: light and bold.  I love the simple, clean lines of both fonts.  They're so simple and classy looking.  You can get both fonts right here.

Creampuff

I really like this font because of its fun, slightly retro feeling.  Download it here.

Fontleroy Brown

This is a great font because it's elegant and fancy, but not your typical cursive script font.  I also like how clean and uniform it is.  It's available for download here.

Learning Curve Pro

This is a cursive font that I just love.  Similar to Fontleroy Brown, I like it because it's clean and uniform even though it's a cursive font.  It also has a little bit of a vintage feel, which I like, too.  Get it right here.

Lobster

Another one of my clean cursive fonts!  It's a great font - and you've got to love a font named after a seafood item.  You can download it here.

Typo Slab Serif

This one has a bit of a typewriter feel, but with more of a modern edge.  I like it.  You can get it here!

I hope you will enjoy these fonts as much as I have!  And if any of you are font nerds like me (or even if you're not), I'd love to know what your favorite fonts are.  Just leave a comment for me!
