Boylan Brand orange soda, or, sorry - "vintage soda pop." Here's what I like about this design:
- The colors - very fun and vintage. Orange and that minty turquoise color definitely have a retro feeling to it.
- The font choices. The simple sans serif fonts and then the old-fashioned looking specialty one provide an interesting but nice combination.
I'm loving that "registered 1891" text up there - it's very well done, well curved, it's in that great vintage font...it's just a very good little slice of typography. As for the logo of the company, I think it's quite good. It's simple, yet memorably vintage as well. The curve of the text seems much more natural in the logo than on the front of the packaging.
The only thing I don't like about the logo is the fact that it says "Bttlg. Co." instead of "Bottling Co." Maybe it's just me, but "Bttlg" isn't a very common abbreviation in my book, and it seems to make the logo read in a confusing way. If the text were rearranged some to either put the entire word "bottling" on there, or eliminate some text, the logo would be more clear from a grammar and clarity standpoint. But the smaller "G" in "Bttlg" is a nice touch.
One nice feature of this orange soda packaging is the way the design carries over to the whole entire box. Here's one other panel.
I like how the logo is incorporated on this panel as well, and the description of the soda is justified evenly and seems to look good placing wise. The only thing that strikes me a little funny is that orange "T." I think this panel might have benefited from a little more orange to tie things together, since the "T" seems to stick out a bit.
The actual soda bottles are probably my favorite part of this whole design scheme. Don't they look neat?
I love the way the orange soda shines through so clearly, and also the white and light yellow text printed on the bottle. The raised text that's embedded in the glass is a nice touch, too. All these features come together to make it look like a truly vintage soda bottle. Of course, the distorted text from the front of the box is still there, but it seems less prominent on the bottle because of the overall vintage feeling.
What do you all think of the graphics for this orange soda?
