I Have a Question

I love posting about things I love and things that inspire me creatively. It's fun to look at design of all sorts, crafts, photography... lots of great artistic things out there to provide examples and inspiration for my own artistic endeavors. So I wanted to know...

What websites do you go to for artistic inspiration?
What shopping venue do you find inspiring?
What artists (of any type, including photographers!) do you appreciate the most?
What books inspire you?
What other miscellaneous things inspire you?

Please comment with your answer (and a link if applicable) letting me know what you think...and I may just feature some of your answers on the blog!

Well, I LOVE creative writing (stories and such) so, my inspiration would be mostly under the "what books inspire you" category. I would say the Anne of Green Gables series; L.M. Montgomery is an AWESOME author and I want to write like her! :)

thanks for asking :)

Music inspires me more than anything. Film scores, Mumford&Sons, David Crowder Band, wild Celtic tunes, and again, film scores. I just love music, and I tend to get wrapped up in it, and interpret it into stories of my own :)That in itself is such a unique thing.

As for the books that inspire me: Narnia, definitely. A Chance to Die is an amazing book. Small Steps, Endless Steppe, and Bud, not Buddy all inspire with the wonderful writing skills of the author. Even Harry Potter inspires me- that is some masterful storytelling.

Finally, I love landscapes, the ones that seem really free, and that take your breath away (Ireland, for example). That really excites me!

books that inspire me would have to be anything by Jane Austen

i also listen to a ton of music, anything from contemporary christian to michael buble to classical to film scores...i love finding music to pair with what im feeling.

Inspirational sites: lydiajane.com, piedpiperphoto.blogspot.com, jessicaclaire.net, flickr as a whole :)

Inspiring shopping venues: any place with unique, cute, vintage, eclectic stuff... etsy.com, and there's a shop called Bliss that I love!

Most appreciated artists: I really respect the old folks... Dorothea Lange, Gordon Parks, Elliott Erwitt. They simply depicted life as it was, but in such captivating shots. Besides, B&W is so dramatic anyway! :)

Inspiring books: The Narnia series was inspiring to me, because it always pointed to heaven, and therefore, inspired me to do the same.
But purely artistically speaking, I'd say "Understanding Exposure." Some different tips inspired me to try new things w/ my camera!

Miscellaneous: God's creation is the single most inspiring thing to me! I would add creative music lyrics, HGTV, and Pottery Barn magazines as inspirational after thoughts :)

Wow. This took me a while to think about. :)

Inspirational websites: tumblr (endless photog inspiration) , imkristensblog.com (clean, simple, moving portraits), amelialyon.net (emotional, and soft images) , yours (filled to the brim with cool stuff and inspiration!)

Shopping: Anthropologie, Boden, Etsy, Target (ha!)

Artists: I really don't find one person inspiring (because I am a photographer) but I find one STYLE inspiring. Simple portraits that depict life in a wonderful way. Any photographer or artist who can do that is inspiring in my book.

Books: Do magazines count? They inspire me so much. DIY Ideas, the Knot, Creating Keepsakes, other photography magazines (I have one spanning the relationship/wedding of Will and Kate. The photography is so cool!)

Miscellaneous things: Paint chips, interior design, www.younghouselove.com, Vera Bradley, and anything clean-lined and cool looking :)
