Stockholm Design Lab, II

I'm back today with Part II of my series on Stockholm Design Lab. If you missed the first part, find it here! Today I'm going to show you some more great projects by Stockholm Design Lab. Before I dive in, though, I want to talk a little bit about their own logo (at left). I really like how simple it is. It really draws attention to the typography, which is great. I also like how formal and professional the typeface is. I think the typeface they chose is very appropriate for a design firm like this one. The contrast is good, too, both between the white text on the black background shown here and the black text on the white background shown on their website.

I like the logotype and identity that Stockholm Design Lab did for Swedish Institute. The logo is simple and bold.

The identity materials are good, too. I really like the cloudy pattern - it makes the colors come alive. I'm not sure I'd like the yellow, blue, and green alone, but the cloud image ties it together and makes it look really cool.

Remember when I mentioned Askul in a post about packaging? Stockholm Design Lab designed a bunch of packaging for Askul which I really like. I love how simple and fun all these packages are! Here are some paper clips.

The huge variety of packages is also quite impressive.

These notebooks are so cool! I want one.

I like this trash bag packaging, too. This, like all the packaging for Askul, is simple and not overwhelming, but has enough going on to make it interesting.

A nice identity that Stockholm Design Lab did is the one for Hemtex. The logo is very strong - simple but innovative and eye catching.

I really like the different ways the logo has been applied in the various identity items. The logo looks great in color on this shopping bag! I like the layered colors a whole lot.

But the logo still looks good without color on this more understated design.

I really like the neutral simplicity of that packaging. Even though it all blends together, the fact that there is no color actually makes this package stand out, I think. The way the identity has been applied to an advertisement is also nice. I like how the logo identifies the ad without detracting from the photo.
I love how the logo looks on the storefront. The big "X" (another version of the logo) is really neat looking. I love how huge it is on the window.

I really like the gray color and the fun, bright shapes that characterize the posters and exhibition catalog from an arts event called Biennale di Venezia. The gray is a big plus in my book, and I love how striking the shapes are.

Just one more thing before I go...some interesting typography done by Stockholm Design Lab. I like how the font is connected but still readable. It was a creative idea that I think works very well with the application.

So what do you think of today's featured projects? I'd love to know if you have a favorite thing that I've featured.

I absolutely love the white-on-white HEMTEX logo. Beautiful!
And I love the SDL font! Do you know if it's available for purchase?

Thanks for your comment! I'm not sure if the SDL font is something they custom designed, or if it's a font available for purchase. Sorry! If you look on a site like myfonts.com, you may be able to find something similar.
